Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you already know, I am running the London Marathon on 13th April this year, to raise money for Havens Hospices. I am currently up to a max distance of 14 miles and Essex Way (a fairly steep hill in Benfleet, for those of you who aren't local) has become my training nemesis.
I will keep you posted on my training trials and tribulations over the forthcoming weeks and months.
I have done some fairly crazy things in my life, but this will be, by far, my greatest personal challenge to date. In addition to the physical challenge, I'm really hoping to raise some money for Havens, in order to help them continue their excellent work.
To give you an idea as to how some of the money raised could be spent:-
£5 = will fund a visit from the hospice at home team, which enables patients in the advanced stages of a life limiting illness to remain in the comfort and dignity of their own house.
£10 = will fund a visit from a specialist community nurse, who will provide help with pain relief and symptom control
£20 = will pay for the Hospice Outreach bus for one day, to transport nurses right into the heart of the community
£40 = will pay for 24 hours of care from an outpatient unit nurse, who looks after patients with more complex needs.
This is just a very small part of the ongoing work/activities/assistance that Havens provide.
Thank you
Danny.
