What is Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a severe muscle wasting condition. People living with Duchenne typically need to use a powered wheelchair from their early teens. Life expectancy is around 30 years, there is no cure.
Who are Action Duchenne?
I am raising money for Action Duchenne, an amazing UK charity which spends 87p in every £1 they raise on ground-breaking Duchenne research, world-class support for Duchenne families, and cutting edge science education.
Why I have chosen Action Duchenne?
I have two really good friends; Jonny & Tom Howsley who have Duchenne muscular dystrophy so I have seen first hand the struggles that people with Duchenne & their families go through on a daily basis. Tom sadly passed away 4 years ago this month following complications from having dreadful condition and is forever in my memory. Although he’s now moved away to Manchester I’m still in regular contact with Jonny and really value him in my life. I can’t wait for all this Covid shite to go and get back to socialising in person! Supporting the individuals & their families who are affected by Duchenne is really close to my heart so I hopefully I can raise some money for this worthy cause.
Please donate to help Action Duchenne continue their vital work.Thank you for your support.
