This May we are joining ActionAid's Climate Change Challenge and are walking the distance of the Everest Base Camp Trek (130km) to support some of the world's most vulnerable women and girls fight against the devastating impacts of climate change.
Cambodia is one of the countries most at risk from climate change, with floodwaters rising and villages being pushed deeper into poverty. ActionAid are helping to fight climate change in Cambodia and are empowering women and girls to be at the forefront of the response.
- £98 can buy a solar-powered pumping machine for a household, providing them with a dependable water source for farming.
- £150 could pay for seeds, tools and 'green skills' training, enabling farmers to grow sustainable, drought-resistant crops.
- £230 could plant 1000 mangrove trees in a coastal area, protecting communities from future floors and soil erosion as well as supporting fishing livelihoods.
So be ready for an avalanche of Strava posts, cringey selfies and philosophical statuses explaining how walking has helped us find our inner zen.
We will be really grateful for all donations made by anyone, and from now until 4th June, everything we fundraise will be matched, pound for pound, by the UK Government.
