My company is sponsoring a handful of us to complete the once-in-a-lifetime Atlantic Challenge, a month-long sailing race/excursion across the Atlantic Ocean during November. Like literally sailing across the Atlantic. I just signed a waiver relinquishing my rights to sue if I die. So why are you reading this? 

 I am on the shortlist of 30 candidates for the Atlantic Challenge and hope to make the final cut of 12 sailors at the end of July. 

We have teamed up with Save the Children, the world's top independent charity for children in need, which is devoted to providing children with a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. Unbeknownst to you, a large part of the Atlantic Challenge will actually take place on land, where I will actively promote Save the Children.

Friends and Family, this is where I need your help. I've set a fundraising goal of $1,500, but would like to exceed this amount if possible. Don't worry, I've come up with an ingenious plan to garner additional support.

You will have the opportunity to sail across the Atlantic in Spirit! If you donate a pre-specified amount or more by the pre-specified dates below, you will be able to submit a picture of yourself (or whatever you fancy) to me. What, that's weird! No it's not. If I make the final team*, I will take photos of YOUR photo throughout my trip and will email you digital copies at the end of the trip. It'll be like you were on the boat the whole time, surviving waves and wildlife! The plan is to bombard instagram with your awesome photos with the hashtag #SailingSelfie with the tag @savethechildren to spread a ton of awareness. It may become the next viral phenomena. But it won't happen without your support!
