Story
My name is Dan Kempster, and this November, I'll be staging a twenty-four hour video game marathon to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
I was inspired to do this after finding out about Extra Life, a global charity event which encourages gamers to play for twenty-four hours straight to raise money for children's hospitals. Unfortunately I was a little late to the party for Extra Life this year, but I figured that didn't stop me from emulating the spirit of the event in my own time. Given I have some time off work in November, I figured it would be the perfect time to commit to such a challenge without it impacting too much on other commitments.
I've chosen to support Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research because it's a cause that I feel very strongly about. Both my own family and those of people close to me have been affected by blood cancers, and I want to show my support for the fight against them in some way. Given my love of video games and my tendency towards staying up late, this seems like the perfect way to do it.
The marathon will be taking place on Friday 23rd November, starting at 9:00am and coming to an end at 9:00am the following morning. I'll be playing a mix of video games across multiple consoles and genres, so as to keep the event fresh and exciting for both spectators and myself - expect some specifics nearer the time. Speaking of spectators, given that it would be a little impractical to allow people to 'sit in' on the event, I'll be looking into live-streaming the marathon over the internet. I'll also be frequently updating on my Giant Bomb profile and my Twitter account to keep people in the loop.
It would be awesome if you could spare any cash at all to donate to this incredibly worthy cause. You can donate directly through this page, or you can make an offline donation to me in person and I'll add it to the total. If all my friends could spare just a couple of quid each, we could smash my provisional target of £100 easily.
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page, and I hope you'll support me in this endeavour.
