Story
Swimming has always played an important part in our family, for health and fitness, building trust and bonding as a group. My mum Gill (aka Grandma) has always supported and encouraged me to be passionate about the sport and I am thankful to have been able to spark the same passion and desire in my son Oscar.
We are so excited that this year we will be taking on Swimathon on the 14th May as a team!!
We have set ourselves the challenge of completing a 5km (200 lengths) swim during the 2hr Swimathon event and have split up the distance between us as follows:-
Dan - 100 lengths
Grandma - 50 lengths
Oscar - 50 lengths
This will be Grandma and Oscar's first ever Swimathon, so please show them your support, give generously and remember to tick that gift aid box!!
(If you would like to cheer us along, we will be completing the challenge at Bluecoats Sports Club at 11:30 on the 14th May)
Cancer Research UK is the largest charitable funder of cancer research in the world and will stay at the forefront of the global fight against cancer. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer. All of us can support the research that will beat it. Marie Curie is here for people with any terminal illness, and those close to them from diagnosis to bereavement. Our nurses and healthcare assistants support families directly across the UK. Our free support line can help with any question about end of life. And we campaign for structural change and fund vital research that improves end of life for everyone. On 12-14 May, thousands of swimmers will be heading to over 450 pools across the UK to raise money for our two amazing charity partners. Together we can really make a difference. We invite our swimmers to tell their story to help spread awareness and raise vital funds for these two incredible causes.
