Story
Hi folks, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday October 8th I will 'attempt' to run the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon in memory of my Mum, Christine. Mum died in 1996 after an incredibly brave battle with cervical cancer at the age of just 45, I turn 45 this July and the moment is not lost on me for one second. So, I thought dragging the dodgy left knee and even dodgier back through a marathon would be a fitting challenge to help raise funds for an extremely worthy cause.
Back in 1995/96 whilst Mum fought her brave battle she received outstanding care and treatment from the staff in the Clarendon Wing at the LGI. Obviously it was a very difficult time for me and my Dad but these guys made things a little easier for us as a family struggling to cope with such a tough, emotional situation. The Yorkshire Cancer Centre, now based at 'Jimmy's', is today's equivalent place for treatment and care for people in the same position and I am extremely proud to be supporting them.
Mum was beautiful, strong-willed, kind, funny and loving. She loved to read, listen to music, dance, have a coffee with friends and she was partial to a lager or three. She is missed every single day and is a constant inspiration to me.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to donate, it is really appreciated.
