Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  SportsAid supports and recognises young athletes at a vital time in their career.  My Grandad, Terry Monaghan, was my hero and it just happens he was a fantastic runner.  As a young man he worked in a factory but would run in races at the weekend; always with the aim of winning but often with the aim of winning a particular prize that he believed would make my Grandma happy, proud and that may make up for the hours of endless training.  He never did win the watch he always strived for, but did win a clock that I still own today.  When I think of SportsAid, I can't help but think of my wonderful Grandad and how with their support his life could have been entirely different. He was so proud of his Elswick Harriers vest that he kept it in pristine condition even into his 90s; but maybe, just maybe, he could have run for his country.  Let's help future athletes so that SportsAid can continue to support so many young hopefuls that then go on to become household names such as Paula Radcliffe, Chris Hoy and Adam Peaty.  Our nation is a better place through sport; let's ensure that continues to be the case.
