Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
I’m taking on the Great North Run, on Sunday 7th September, to raise funds for Caudwell Children’s ‘Destination Dreams’ Holiday programme to Florida.
Caudwell Children provide practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families. This particular programme gives children with terminal or life threatening conditions the opportunity to have a once-in-a-lifetime holiday for perhaps the first, and possibly the last, time.
However, the trip is under threat, due to funding issues, and there is a real possibility that the annual holiday could end.
When I recently heard that the family of Sadie Cavagan, and 8-year-old girl from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, were desperately urging participants in this year’s Great North Run to raise funds for Caudwell Children I felt that I had to get involved.
Sadie has a condition known as (H-ABC). It reduces signals from the brain, hampering her development and restricting what she can do. The condition means that she requires constant care and attention from her parents.
The condition not only affects her learning and balance but has also left her with impaired vision.
The family has always dreamed of taking Sadie and her younger sister Charlotte (5) to Disney World, but the thought of attempting it without costly medical support has always filled them with dread.
I want to contribute to the £10,000 needed to take the family on a fully supported holiday to Florida, as it’s highly likely, they believe, that this will be the only chance they get to have a family holiday with Sadie.
Please help me to do this.
