Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 15th January 2021 my lovely Mum was admitted to critical care with Covid-19, five days later she was put on a ventilator.
Today, on her 88th day in hospital she is celebrating a week off the ventilator and has been moved to a non-critical ward to continue her rehabilitation.
It goes without saying that her own strength has got her this far, but without the amazing nurses, doctors and all the incredible staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, today would be a very different story and outcome. They have managed to work miracles under immense pressure and never, ever gave up even during some very dark moments. In addition to the care for their patients, they showed great compassion for us as a family, with daily updates and patiently answering endless questions. My family and I are absolutely indebted to this incredible team and have the upmost respect for them. Quite simply, they have been amazing...and continue, unfailingly being amazing. There’s still a way to go to full recovery but we are getting there and are so grateful.
As you will be able to understand, I wanted to try and give something back by raising money for patient care and staff wellbeing in the critical care unit.
I am pledging to run at least 5km every day for 30 days come rain, snow, sunshine, hangover or bad work day!
For some this may be deemed easy, but running is not my forte so believe me this will be a significant personal challenge for me!
So if you would like to donate anything at all, no matter how small, I will be very grateful. It will go a long way to giving something back (although nothing will ever be enough in my mind) in recognition of the incredible, life-saving team at the hospital who I will be eternally grateful to.
Thank you very much,
Danielle x
