Story
Well we both completed the Great North Run on 19/09/10, it wasn't easy but throughly enjoyed it! Graeme did it in 2hrs 13mins and i did it in 2hrs 34mins. Seeing everyone at the roadside helping and supporting was fantastic! I am so pleased with the support we have received from everyone, with everyones help we have gone over our target! Thank you to everyone!!
This year i am doing the Gr8 North Run with my partner Graeme. We are both doing it for a charity close to my heart, Cancer Research. I am running in memory of my wonderful Grandma Violet who fought a long, hard 7year battle with cancer and sadly lost in 2007.
1 in 3 people are affected by cancer during their lifetime and more than quarter of a million people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK.
The overall death rate for cancer has fallen by 10% in the last ten years thanks to Cancer Research's doctors and scientists, who have contributed to 19 of the top 20 drugs used to treat patients worldwide today.
If I reach my target of £1000 i will donate 10% of that amount (my own money) to MacMillan Cancer Support. MacMillan exists to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer, both those living with cancer and also their families and carers. Their primary focus is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer.
If I raise my target of £1000 , we would have helped raise enough to purchase a microcentrifuge, which spins small tubes of samples at rapid speeds, generating a centrifugal force that separates out components so they can be investigated. This is one step closer to helping find a cure.
