Story
You would had thought no-one else in the world had grandchildren if you had spent anytime with my grandad . He was a proud man, kind, genourous, loving, fun and hard working all his life.
Sadly he was taken ill in Spain and we discovered he had developed terminal cancer and was given 3 months to live. We wanted to bring him home where we could care for him properly and spend time with him but as we were to discover it wasn't that easy. St Clare's threw us a lifeline took him in straight from air ambulance and made his last 12 days comfortable and dignified.
My family are forever indebited to them and the amazing 65 staff that work there.
The services St Clare's provide are free to patients and their carers but cost over £2.6 million every year. The NHS only pays around 24% of this huge sum which means they have to raise significant amounts of money each and every year and I want to help them raise funds as my way of saying thank you.
So I've decided to join their Fire Walk on 3rd November 2011 ! a bare foot walk over red-hot wood embers measuring around 800 degrees. No tricks, no special effects. Just me and the fire! EEK!
Please give what you can spare - every penny will go towards helping someone else face their last days in this wonderful hospice benefiting from the compassion and support their staff provide
