Story
I have decided to run 100 miles in the month of December in aid of Raleigh International, and I would absolutely love if you could donate whatever you can to this cause! I’m hoping to raise £300 in doing this, and I would be incredibly grateful if you could support me.
In February 2022 I will be working with Raleigh International on a 10-week project in Costa Rica, and I am aiming to fundraise a total of £2000. I know it’s a huge goal, but I have a few ideas and projects I am going to be doing in order to reach the target! This 100 mile challenge is my first and my fundraising goal is £300, but in addition to this I will be planning some other events which I will update to my Facebook page as I go.
Raleigh International is an incredible charity led by young people, and it aims to create a “fair, inclusive and green world”, respecting both the people and the planet. The charity works in rural communities across the globe, and this year they are focusing their work in Costa Rica and Nepal, where they are improving access to safe water and sanitation, protecting vulnerable environments and working in collaboration with national volunteers, communities and local partner organisations.
In Costa Rica, indigenous communities are widely excluded from legal protection and social, political and economic development. These communities represent 2.5% of the population, however they experience higher malnutrition and mortality rates than the rest of the country and 30% are unable to read and write.
For those of you who know me well, you will know that I am incredibly passionate about sustainability and conserving our world, but also a huge advocate for human rights and social justice. I think this is an amazing charity and I would absolutely love to work with them in fighting for a more sustainable, socially just and equal world.
Thank you so much for your donation, it really means a lot to me. :)
