Story
On 3rd July 09 my world was shattered when my lovely dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness, the most malignant and aggressive type of brain tumour.
Very sadly my wonderful dad lost his battle to brain cancer in Feburary. He bravely fought this dreadful disease for 19 months defying doctors who gave him 6 months at the most!
Each year in the UK around 8,500 people are diagnosed with brain and central nervous system tumours.
Although the outlook varies greatly between different types of tumour, the current overall survival rates for malignant brain tumours (brain cancer) are extremely poor, only 15% of people will survive for five years or more after their diagnosis.
Treatments include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, all of which are extremely invasive with horrible side effects and usually only extend the patients life by a matter of months.
Brain cancer research receives the least amount of funding compared to any other type of cancer, yet it is the leading cause of cancer death in people under the age of 40.
As most of you know I've never been 'into running' and last year could not even manage 1K without stopping so for me 10K is a huge goal.
Please please sponsor me and my team to help fund new treatments for such a devasting disease.
