Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m doing the Santa Run in memory of my Nanny Joan who sadly passed away in January 2012.
My Nan developed Alzheimer while I was in my early teens, myself and my family help look after her and maintain a loving relationship with her throughout her time with us.
Nanny Joan was a fun loving, caring, no nonsense lady who would do anything for friends and family.
In the later stages of the disease, my family made the decision to put Nanny Joan into the Highbury New Park Care Home where she could get 24 hour round the clock care and assistance.
This was a very hard decision for the family to make, but Highbury New Park Care Home made the transition easy and stressed free.
Nanny Joan enjoy 9 happy years with them, maintaining an active and happy life, sadly passing away in January 2012.
Alzheimer's is a very heartbreaking disease for the family and friends of the person.
It can effect anyone of any age at any time and at present there is still no answer to why people develop Alzheimer's or how to cure it.
