Story
Growing up in Canada it was extremely hard to avoid ice. My Mom put me in skates for the first time when I was 5 and continued on competing with it until I was 20 and moved to England.
Another amazing program my Mom put me in when I was 7 was Cubs. I went through the Scouting program straight through Cubs all the way up until Rovers. In between those years I also volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader as well as a Beaver Leader. Upon moving back to London 4 years ago I decided to volunteer my time to my local Scout group as a leader. I am now have my own Beaver Colony with 14 wonderful Beaver Scouts. The hall we are in is needing some upgrades and I want to try and do my bit to help them out.
So this brings us to my challenge to myself..... I have decided to compete in a 50km ice race in Sigtuna, Sweden. Sigtunarännet is an ice skating race on Lake Mälaren with start and finish in Sigtuna. The race takes place on controlled /maintained natural ice. Big parts of the track is ploughed during the whole winter. Despite skating most of my life this has got to be the biggest challenge I have ever taken on and I really hope you guys help me out!
