Originally going to the doctors and being persistent about something not quite right on my leg, follow up phone calls, visiting the doctors to try and get someone to listen to me... 6 months later after finally getting it removed from my calf the news came back that it was malignant melanoma.
Hearing the “C” word can be frightening... but for me it has given the biggest strength in life, and most of that is down to currently being treated by The Christie and of course the love and strength I get from my little princess and support from family and friends.
Every single person I have seen at The Christie have been truly amazing from the receptionists to the nurses, I couldn’t feel more relaxed when I go.
Having to have a bigger operation than expected as the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes in the groin, I know I am under the best care you can possible get.
Being treated at The Christie gives me the strongest hope that I can battle Stage 3 Skin Cancer, with ongoing tests weekly and the care of everyone I meet every time I enter through the doors.
Sitting in the cafe today watching everyone walk by made me really want to start to give just a little something back and this is just the start...
The Walk of Hope is on September 21st at Tatton Park, I have signed up for this to give me some focus as the next month or 2 will be the start of my treatment and recovery so I WILL join everyone else to unite against cancer and build hope for our future.
The funds raised by donating will go to the new centre based at Macclesfield and will help around 40K people.
