Story

PLEASE DO NOT DONATE WITH GIFT AID AS WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT IT. PLEASE UNTICK THE GIFT AID BOX WHEN DONATING. THANK YOU!

Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

Just a little about me, so you know who I am. My name is Dani and I am a first year Chemistry student at Durham University. Next summer (2014) I will be participating in an expedition to India, where myself and 14 other Durham students will be working with the Future Sense Foundation on a four week project.

This project primarily involves teaching Indian children English, but we will also be providing activities (such as games, sports and crafts) for the children and completing renovation work for the school we are working with in Palampur.

The FutureSense Foundation is a wonderful charity that supports community development projects in some of the poorest regions in the world. They are partenered with over 100 non profit organisations to support volunteer work across four continents. The charity has many goals, such as relieving poverty and promoting child welfare, but perhaps most importantly, improving education - and this is where I (and the rest of the India team) come in!

For me to partake in this incredible expedition, to travel to India and to educate children, I need to raise a minimum of £2,550 (with a minimum donation of £1,000 going straight to FutureSense). Over the next six months or so, I will be organising and participating in many fundraising events, potentially including bag packing in supermarkets, bake sales, sponsored events and more! I will, of course, be keeping my page updated with everything I do!

So in conclusion, I would be incredibly grateful for any donation you could give to help make the 2014 expedition to India a success (no matter how big or small - every little helps!). It will really make a difference to the lives of the children we help - apparently they still talk about last year's expedition team, so we must be doing something right!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, it means a lot to me!

Dani
