We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

My nanna played such a significant part of my life growing up and any loss or illness of a loved one is hard. Alzheimer's also known as (Dementia) is a pathology that attacks the brain, my nanna would of called it "losing ya marbles", it feels like you lose them before they have actually left the world. My Nanna has suffered with this disease for over 6 years now and for the past 6 years I have watched her deteriorate into a stranger. The disease didn't just take her personality, her character, her spirit, her loving, caring, clever, cuddly, funny, happy strong mindedness it made her confused, unable to talk or communicate and she became aggressive which then lost her all of her dignity. My Nanna is now a person I have to visit in a specialist nursing home just because her body is still breathing. She was and is my best friend, we shared everything together but to see her go through this now and not being able to do a thing is by far the most soul destroying experience ever. I will be doing this run completely for my Nanna, it would give me a chance to raise money for an excellent charity which will provide awareness and hopefully prevention in the near future.

I know she would be very proud.... Never forget how much I love you..

Thank you
