Finally... I am doing it... Again!
This is my second attempt at preparing for the London marathon due to horrible knee injury in the closing stages of my training.
Since being eligible to apply, I have been talking about running the London marathon. After 17 years of training, I am finally at the peak physical fitness required to undertake this mammoth challenge!
In reality, I have made many, many failed attempts at running; I once completed a half marathon and vowed never to do one again. The last 2 miles I was in some hallucinogenic and barely conscious state, as I groaned and staggered across the finish line. I was like a ravenous zombie fumbling for glucose gels and electrolytes! But now that time has passed, for some reason I feel I can do one again… twice!
While supporting Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, I am now embarking on a journey to the greatest race on earth, The 2023 London marathon!
Our family have supported The Peace Hospice (who have recently merged with Rennie Grove Hospice Care) for many years, and even more so since they showed my grandad Mario a superb amount of dignity, care and love in his final days in 2007. This will be another show of appreciation to a fantastic charity and a worthwhile cause as they provide end of life care.
I would be so grateful to receive any support you can afford during these challenging times. I am looking forward to the adventure that lies ahead and will be posting regular updates on my progress along the way.
