Story
In 2010 Street Action founder Joe Walker and I planned the first cycle challenge to raise money for Street Action. Every year since there has been a cycle challenge.
This year will be my 7th time. I have previously raised £3332 to which I have seen the benefits first hand when traveled to Bujumbura late 2013. There, on behalf of Street Action, I helped set up a coffee shop and train baristas with the vision to have a domestic income stream.
Throughout my years as a coffee shop owner, I look to purchase Burundian coffee as much as possible to create awareness and to further Burundian coffee and its industry.
Please sponsor me and support the important work that Street Action does street-connected children in Burundi.
About Street Action
Street Action is a UK charity who supports the work of New Generation in Burundi. New Generation emerged from the civil war that swept Burundi between 1993-2005. They continue to respond to the effects of years of civil war amongst the young generations on the streets: engaging them through outreach, back to school and re-integration support and entrepreneurship training for older boys and young women. They work to enable children and young people from the streets to reach their full potential and become leaders of a new Burundi. In 2018 we raised funds to purchase a plot of land in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, which is now the permanent home of New Generation. Alongside helping to develop their programs, our focus for 2019 is to help them raise the money needed to build the first permanent building on this site. As a team of supporters, we want to cycle/run/walk the 10,000 km between London and Bujumbura, and raise money for New Generation as we do!
