Story
Daniel Waddington was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2009, and is about to have one incredibly tough year as he takes on the Crohn's and Colitis Research UK Challenge: Desire for Life.
Daniel is very proud to be supporting Crohn's and Colitis UK, and he is determined to be invloved until a cure can be found.
Starting on Sunday 18 March, it will be the most physically gruelling test of Daniel's life as he attempts to climb, walk and run over 150 punishing miles from a series of 13 events across the UK.
Daniel will start first leg of his challenge in his hometown by competing in the BIGK 10k in Keighley, and he is hoping to complete the hilly race in less than 45 minutes.
For the second leg. Daniel is hoping to climb Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK - an ambitious task for anyone let alone someone who suffers from Crohn's disease. Luckily to help him navigate him to the top, he will be joined by his father David Rutherford, who is very keen experienced climber.
As if that wasn't enough, the final stages of his epic triathlon will see Daniel take on 4 exhausting marathons, finishing in the Yorkshire Dales in Pen-y-Ghent, after he has completed the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge on Sunday 14 October.
When Daniel is on his last legs, his father David who will provide much needed motivation when he walks alongside him in the national park.
Speaking about the upcoming challenge. Daniel said: "I must be mad. I'm a man who looks much younger than I look and I'm about to take on the biggest physical challenge of my life. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2009, and I've spent years struggling with this illness that doesn't get much public attention. I've been fortunate enough to dodge a close-call with surgery and I've learned to manage the condition relatively well, but it has been a hard process with medical treatment. I try and live each day without fear, confront all obstacles knowing that hospitalisation could be and usually is just around the corner. I'm really excited to get going and my mission, is to help cure Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis and improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.'
Daniel's one ordinary bloke on one extraordinary mission and he needs all the support he can get! He wants to raise as much cash as he can to change countless lives so please sponsor him now to get him off to a flying start.
