Story
Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
As my various football injuries have accumulated I have taken up a new sport in the form of cycling. To give myself something to aim for I've entered The TransAtlantic Way which takes place in June 2019.
This is a self-supported road race that starts in Dublin and heads north to Derry before joining the Wild-Atlantic Way along the west coast of Ireland, and finishing down in Cork. The route covers approximately 2200km/1550 miles with 20,205m/66,293ft of climbing that is “purposefully fed into prevailing winds.” I'm hoping to complete the distance in about 10 days.
Seeing as this will be quite a challenge, I thought I would try to raise some money for charity. I've picked Verus Arthritis because they're doing a good job at raising awareness of the impact arthritis can have on peoples lives. Furthermore, I am set to develop early-onset osteoarthritis secondary to my sporting injuries...so I have selfish reasons to support an Arthritis charity. Here's their little blurb:
"Millions of people wake up with arthritis every morning and face the day in pain, without the support and recognition they deserve. Arthritis attacks what it means to live and people with arthritis are often left to manage alone.Versus Arthritis invests in breakthrough treatments, the best information and vital support for everyone affected by arthritis. Please sponsor me so that together we can overcome the pain, isolation and fatigue of arthritis."
