### Edit- my cousin Kevin ‘Zigi’ Smith has now volunteered to join me on this trek and take on this challenge ❤️###
The last 12 months have been a challenging time for everyone, however during this period I lost my grandma following a short battle with cancer. This was particularly tough as this happened during testing times with pandemic restrictions in place, as she saw out her final days at Pendleside Hospice. Despite restrictions meaning that I personally could not see my grandma and say goodbye, the hospice staff were flexible with the rules to accommodate visits by all of her children, which was a great comfort for them, particularly my mother.
The Hospice exists to promote and enhance quality of life for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers; by delivering specialist and holistic palliative care. All free of charge. I therefore would like to raise a bit of money so they can carry on providing this valuable service for others.
I am aiming to complete The Burnley Way in one hit and under 16 hrs.
The Burnley Way is a 40-mile/64 km adventure from industrial heritage, along waterways, through fields, parks, old farms, and Forest of Burnley woodlands to the wild South Pennine high moorland routes where the terrain and weather can be rough, even in Summer. The landscape, history and wildlife are all varied and fascinating. The route passes relatively close to my home, so I will be tailoring the route slightly to suit.
Those of you who know me will be aware I’m not a small lad and carrying 20 stone around the route will be a real challenge for me as it is much further than any distance I have walked previously, but it is all for a very worthwhile cause.
So if you can, please donate, however little - anything at all will be appreciated x
