We have an incredible group of #WishHeroes who will be taking on the 2022 London Marathon. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness for critically ill children.

Story

Over the last twelve months I have lost five stone. On 1st February 2021, my partner Laura told me that there was a guy coming in the morning to help you with your fitness. He is going to come at 6am 3 times a week for an hour. The first session, I could only last 12 minutes. Since then, he has changed my life. I now work out six times a week, each morning (when not travelling for work) at 6am. We run 4 times a week and recently ran a half marathon. To think that a year ago, i was 17 stone and could hardly run 300m and now I am able to run a half marathon is a testament to Mike and the support of Laura. We have a little boy who turned 3 last year. Not only am I able to do so much more with him, I know I am healthier, which I hope means I live a longer life and be around for Freddie. My Dad passed away last year, which at the age of 34 was exceptionally hard to take and I am determined now to be as healthy as I can be for Fred. I am running for Make-A-Wish UK because we have been so fortunate to be blessed with a happy and healthy child and yet that are many families that are faced with unimaginable pain, worry and sadness. The strength the children and families face is incredible and I want to do whatever I can to support as many wishes as I can.

Make-A-Wish® UK creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. But right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and they don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.
