Story
I'm running the Great Manchester Run for #TeamStroke in memory of my Mum, Sue.
Mum suffered a stroke in January 2014, just a couple of weeks before her 55th birthday. Unfortunately, she was never able to return to work but the fact she came out of hospital at all was remarkable. There were many changes in Mum’s life from then on but she rarely let it get her down and could always find things to laugh about!
Sadly, after living with the effects of stroke for nearly 10 years, Mum passed away towards the end of March 2023. The impacts of stroke are often devastating for the individual and their family, and my story is no different.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
Stroke Association believes everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. Your support will help them to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
Help me raise as much as possible to help rebuild lives after stroke - thank you!
