Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for SSNAP

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge · 5 September 2020
Our son Evan was born on the 25th June this year, six weeks before his due date.
Despite being born six weeks early, he was still a very healthy 6lbs, and has quickly moved from Intensive Care to the Low Dependency Unit.
He continues to stay in hospital at John Radcliffe, Oxford, where he is continuing to grow and build up his strength, but we hope to have him back home with us soon.
At this time, we drive about three hours a day to the hospital and back to see Evan, as well as looking after our daughter, Ivy – with help from family! We know that many parents in the hospital are dealing with similar situations and this can be very challenging.
By doing this challenge we hope to raise some money to give something back to the charity SNAPP who help so many parents during challenging times.
What is SNAPP and why am I fundraising for them?
SSNAP (Supporting the Sick Newborn and their Parents) is an independent charity based at John Radcliffe Hospital, which supports the Newborn Care Unit and provides emotional and practical support to parents via their Family Care Team. They are committed to helping parents overcome practical barriers that mean they can't be with their baby.
SSNAP champion the rights of all sick and premature babies treated in Oxfordshire to receive the best care.
By donating, you can help SSNAP to continue their vital work on the Special Care Baby Unit. All funds raised will go towards ensuring that all babies born on the unit receive the best care possible and that the parents and families are supported.
They also organise coffee mornings for families and staff on the unit, help with financial costs associated with travelling to the hospital, and fund accommodation so families can stay close to their baby.
I know that any donation will be gratefully received and that many families will directly benefit from your kindness.
What is the challenge?
The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km) and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Some good friends have offered to help out and keep me company by completing the challenge alongside me (Thank you to Andy, Floyd, Sam & Scott)!
Donate today
I understand that times are tough for all of us with Covid-19 but even if you could make a small donation, it would really go a long way.
