Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Batley and Dewsbury are small towns with a shared bond of Rugby League which is part of its heritage and even now possibly the most played community sport in the area. whilst my own passion was the rounder version of a ball, I was brought up watching and playing this community sport. Sadly the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) took the life of Mark Burgess, father of the famous NRL brothers, who coached at Dewsbury Moor a good few years ago and seeing the impact of MND has had on one of my grandfathers favourite players Rob Burrow. I and a couple of friends have been inspired like many of the country by Kevin Sinfield and his 7 marathons in 7 days and decided to give a marathon a go but with a difference and split into a run and and cycle. Myself, Mark Brown and Lee Gilmour a former international team mate of Rob's took on the challenge on Sunday the 13th of December to raise and heighten awareness of this cruel illness.
