Original story:
Hello my friends and family and welcome to my Cash for Kids Great North Run donation page.
As of a few weeks ago I have officially received a place in the September Great North Run 09 with a local charity called cash for kid’s sponsors of metro radio. It’s a local charity that focuses on children with disadvantages in life. It’s a thirteen mile run, which I have already started training for. I have to raise £250 pounds by September. This money will go directly to charity and anything over will go to another two charities I have selected, cancer research and the children's organ transplant association.
Running in the great north run is such a privilege as places are limited and as mine is guaranteed I am going to do this!.
If you want to know more about Cash for Kid’s here is a useful link http://www.metroradio.co.uk/sectional.asp?id=23960
Again thank you for reading, I hope to hear from you soon
And remember I love you all

After math:
My legs were hurting badly from the top to the bottom, people seemed to be walking past me all of the time. This didn't bother me, we only wanted our medals.
As we entered the Pink K start zone, people were excited and talking to each other. Metro Radio was playing live.
"Are you ok", Cara asked many times, I think she was worried about me.
"yes", I replied.
And I was, I just wanted to start I was Growing Impatient I just wanted to get going and so did she.
Over the PA it was announced that the starting circle had began. This is where I was nervous.
Cara tied me to her, this was our plan to stick together in the thousands of people. But after not more than five minutes we grew board of the idea and done away with the strap.
Suddenly the Newcastle United Theme Local Hero blasted out of the speakers, then from nowhere the Red Arrows were really low down above our heads. They slowly turned sideways and the shot off like shooting stars and where gone with a rush or red smoke left behind.
This made me really emotional because I knew they were for me and every other runner, and for the first half mile I had tears streaming down my face, Still running of course.
The first mile seemed really long but that was because when we got to the marker it said "2 mile", deep down I was relieved.
We done 5K in 50 minutes, and for me that was unbelievable especially since we hadn't trained anywhere near as much as we should have.
One mile after the start line there was crowds cheering us on, which really made me feel good and some how kept me at a steady pace.
After about 5 miles we found ourselves off the highway and walking down a residential street, to my surprise was celebrating the Great North Run as well, they had BBQ's, Music, Ice Cream. The thing that made me smile was a women standing at the end of her garden gate holding a lawn sprinkler to cool us down. I took advantage of this pleasure and thanked her after.
Power Aid and Aqua Pura were amazing, every mile or so there was a huge stand of either one or the other and you could just grab the bottles as you ran by. I must admit I never want to see Power Aid for as long as I live.
About the halfway marker there was kids and adults not part of a charity just out of there own good will handing fruit and sugar sweets out. Well people know me and sweets "wink wink"
At the ten mile marker we were going through the Bupa Booster stand, with crowds of people cheering you on and a Live bands and a person with a Mic saying "Only three miles now, come on". I was over the moon and pretty much danced through as I liked the music.
The pain started to kick in now for us both and we started to lower our quick pace that we had maintained for ten miles. The best thing in the world was seeing the ocean at South Shields and we descended our last hill, The next thing we Know Cara's Kids Run up to us and was cheering us on for the last mile. This was so helpful as we were loosing faith.
When we seen that the finish line was close we ran through it and as we did our chips that we had strapped to our ankles to monitor us, beeped for the final time. We were handed our "goody bag" and our medal which I wore as soon as I got it. We collapsed onto the floor and not long after that got our bags.
We said our goodbyes, gave each other a well done hug and a kiss on the cheek and I was off into the crowed to find Graham. The pain now was almost unbearable I rang him and asked where he was and he said "near the amusements", I could see them in the distance but there was no way I could get there fast. I was limping and holding my back. After five minutes of walking I collapsed into a chair in front of a restaurant and rang again. He said that he was at the same restaurant, but I could not see him. I told him to walk around because he was on the wrong side. He eventually seen me and ran across the road the fastest I have ever seen him move and he took my bag off me and hugged me. He helped me to the car which to my surprise was another bloody mile away but I have never been so happy to see him.
And that my friends and family is my story.
