Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My little cousin Isla (pictured below) is 2. On her first birthday Isla was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of child cancer (which has been much publicised recently in the
case of Bradley Lowery). Thanks to the amazing care of Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, she has been fighting this cancer with incredible bravery for 15 months. Over that time she's faced gruelling and extensive treatments including chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, immunotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions, radiotherapy, as well as major surgery.

The great news is that Isla has responded well to treatment and the hope is that she’ll be cancer free at the end of December. Unfortunately Neurblastoma carries a significant risk of relapse and relapsed neuroblastoma has a less than 1 in 10 chance of survival. Thanks to the support of the charity Solving Kids’ Cancer, Isla has the opportunity to take part in a pioneering clinical vaccine trial in New York which is designed to prevent the cancer returning. Despite the support of Solving Kids’ Cancer, Isla’s parents urgently need to raise £155,000 before the end of January in order to give Isla this opportunity.

To support Isla’s fundraising campaign, on New Year’s Day I will be attempting to run a marathon comprised of approximately 52 laps of the external perimeter of Great Ormond Street Hospital. For 15 months’ Isla’s life has revolved around Great Ormond Street. Hopefully mine will only revolve around it for a matter of hours.

On behalf of my family, thank you, thank you, thank you for any support you can offer.
