Story
On the18th March I will be embarking on an epic 200km challenge across Panama, running from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast in aid of Sported.
Over 6 days I’ll be running 160km through the highlands of Chirriqu, going off grid in the tropical rainforest (if that doesn’t sound challenging enough, I’ll be doing this fully self supported with my hammock and supplies on my back and machete in hand) and navigating 40k of the river in a pack raft. It’s going to be physically gruelling and mentally challenging, running across one of the most humid climates in the world, not to mention the possibility of coming face to face with the occasional poisonous jungle beastie!
This will be no mean feat. To prepare I’ve been training hard. I’ve converted my garage into a gym, I’m training 6 days a week and eating well. You can read all about my training here - https://jardinedaniel.wixsite.com/website
Why am I doing this you may ask? Like so many of us I reached a point 9 months into the pandemic where cabin fever was setting in. I found myself retreating deeper and deeper into my own head. My mental health took a hit. COVID has shone light on the importance of physical activity for us all. That’s why I’m raising funds for Sported - a charity that promotes fairness and equity for young people across the UK through grassroots sport and physical activity. Signing up to this challenge has already changed my life and I want to shine a spotlight on how physical activity can change so many more lives. It’s never been more important to have something that gets young people active, excites them and inspires them. That’s where Sported comes in and that’s where you come in. By sponsoring my efforts you’ll be helping Sported to keep thousands of community sports charities thriving to help turn young peoples’ lives around.
Every penny I raise will go directly to Sported. We have just received an amazing pledge to match funds raised up to £2.5k …. Can you help me get there?
Thanks for reading about my challenge.
