Story
I am aiming to go to India with Raleigh International in September 2013. In order to do this I need to raise £800 to ensure vital projects can continue running. Obviously this is a great opportunity for me but most of all the impact that this charity is having in India is well worth supporting. I will be there for around 3 months working and living in a community on projects ranging from the construction of sanitation and farming units to raising awareness on life threatening issues or running health and vet camps. Every project is run with the particular community and what they need, Raleigh has been requested to assist in order to build a better future for that community.
Why Raleigh International:
1) Volunteers from the UK and India working together in consultation with the community
2) Sustainable development to make a lasting difference
3) Raleigh International is not about a one off trip it is about making International citizens. Continued involvement by alumni of the scheme is mandatory.
What I have done:
- Curry and Cake Sale at Oxford Brookes University. On the day £266.60 was raised! Thanks to everyone that helped make this possible and also to everyone who came and purchased some delicious food! Check out the photo of the table of delights in my gallery, it was all gone by the end!
- Family Fun Day, Polhill Arms, Renhold 25/08/2013. This event included a bouncy castle, barbecue, raffle and disco. In total the day raised £490.00 for Raleigh International. I will try and find some photos of the actual event, some cameras must have been out!
Now I have reached my target I need to shave my hair off! Date and time to be arranged, watch this space....
I will be documenting all of my activities on this page and via my twitter account. So for all photos, upcoming events and info about the charity follow me: @DanielFuller27
If you feel you can support then please donate, I will really appreciate it and so will the communities that lives are being changed daily by Raleigh International volunteers. Cheers!
