Story
First of all thank you for taking the time to ready my story. This challenge was due to take place June 2021 but was cancelled due to Covid. we are now on and confirmed for 8th June 2022 Back in October 2020 my fiancée (Amy) lost her grandfather Patrick Moloney to Alzheimer’s & Dementia. Patrick was a true fighter as he fought with Alzheimer’s & Dementia for approximately eight years. He was such an inspirational man. He was fit and extremely healthy until Dementia caught hold of him when he was 82 years of age. Patrick went on such a journey with this disease and he managed to cope with this until the wonderful age of 90.
Amy was extremely close to her grandfather so she followed him on his journey throughout his diagnosis of dementia. Amy struggled emotionally from time to time as she watched her grandad go through so many challenging changes which amazingly he coped with each time a change would happen. Dementia & Alzheimer’s is a cruel & heart breaking disease it completely steals a person from you.
So for all of these reasons and for so many more I have signed up to take on the Alzheimer’s & dementia cycle from London to Paris on 8th June 2022. It’s four gruelling day's in the saddle, cycling between 120- 180km per day! which for anyone that knows me will challenge me beyond belief. But this is all in aid of Alzheimer’s & Dementia so will definitely be worth it! This is my first ever cycle challenge so please show your support to get me through these four days.
Please dig deep an help me raise money for such an amazing charity and for a charity which is clearly very close to our hearts.
This journey I’m about to embark is in wonderful memory of our amazing late Patrick Moloney!
