Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On May 14th, I'll be taking part in the Ridge Walk 2011 to raise money for SENSE; a charity that's been working with deafblind children and adults for over 50 years.
A team of us will be taking on a 52 mile trek from Watlington in Oxfordshire to Barbury Castle, just south of Swindon, along the oldest road in Britain. Target time: 24 hours.
Having now faced a practice route of 30 miles along the canals from BIrmingham to Stratford, I can confidently conclude the following:
1) 30 miles is further than you and your joints appreciate when you set off on a Sunday morning with a pedometer and a dream.
2) Canals are boring. Pretty, granted, but 30 miles of anything is guaranteed to end in boredom. Except maybe a bouncy castle.
3) 52 miles is going to hurt. Fact.
Only a few weeks to go now before blisters wreak havoc on feet and willpower alike.
Anything you can spare will be gratefully received by both myself and SENSE, so please dig deep and give whatever you can.
