Story
In September I will be completing a 400 mile bike ride from Norfolk to Newgale in Memory of a close inspirational family friend, Tony Rees. I will be starting the ride at the SQN office in Diss and finishing at Tony's favourite beach, Newgale. Anyone who knew Tony would know what a generous, loving and inspirational individual he was. Tony's hard work and determination was reflected in the achievements he gained from a professional and personal basis seen in the growth of his much loved business SQN, and his expansive friendship group who are continuing his legacy still today.
One particular memory I have of Tony which will stick with me for the rest of my life was my first trip to the Millennium (Principality) Stadium. The train journey to Cardiff was just as entertaining as the game itself. Tony's initial act of kindness was to feed the whole train from Diss to London with Welsh and English treats which he had prepared. Having entertained the Greater Anglia service with his amazing culinary skills we got onto the central line. We had been on the tube less than 5 minutes when Tony started to sing Deliah by the chorus Tony had got most of the carriage singing. This is one of many very happy memories I shared with Tony and one which I will cherish for years to come.
To continue his amazing legacy I want to give back to the amazing charity Priscilla Bacon which helped Tony. Priscilla Bacon is currently fundraising to build a desperately needed new hospice for Norfolk and Waveney, and has already raised over £10m of our £12.5m target, and broke ground on the new site in February 2022. However they still really need your help to raise the final £2.2m to complete the project as soon as possible! The new hospice will boast the most modern facilities and a wider range of services, giving people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses a greater choice of care.
