Story
Hello and welcome to the 2023 MyVision Oxfordshire Tandem Challenge.
My name is Daniel Fernandes and I am registered severely sight impaired. This is my second consecutive MyVision Oxfordshire Tandem Challenge.
Last year I decided to take part in the challenge to say thank you to MyVision Oxfordshire. The advice and support that was and still is given to me today by them has been truly life changing. I am out and about, enjoying the beautiful outdoors through cycling because of them. For me, raising money for the organisation via the tandem challenge, was the best way I felt I could say THANK YOU!
This year, I am taking on the challenge once again. Still keeping my gratitude to MyVision Oxfordshire at heart and trying to raise as much money as I can for them, I am also using this opportunity to create that awareness of the remarkable work that MyVision Oxfordshire does everyday.
I recall a quote, ‘Sight loss does not mean loss of vision. Vision is resilience’. That resilience can be made so much more powerful with the help and support that MyVision Oxfordshire provide. Living with sight loss is extremely challenging at times, but when you know that you have people you can fall back on whenever you are faced with an issue, just makes that challenge a whole lot easier. One thing that MyVision Oxfordshire has made me understand, is that it’s ok to live with a disability. Every single person on this planet is given one chance at life, whether it be with a disability or not. It is your right and your privilege to live it to the fullest. Embrace your sight loss and never doubt your own ability. If you can reach that point in your life , you will experience true happiness and that for me, is living.
Please support me by helping me conquer this challenge by raising funds for MyVision Oxfordshire. Your contributions will really go a long way in ensuring that MyVision Oxfordshire continues providing their much needed services and support to people living with sight loss in Oxfordshire.
They truly do make a difference.
Thank you.
