Story
I had my Spinal Cord Injury playing a league game of rugby. Being a personal Trainer I just was an extremely active person. Me and Pete (partner) would spend our free weekends up some sort of mountain. A few months prior to my SCI we flew to Norway and trekked the Devil Tongue - it was Phenomenal.
Thats why I love climbing as the views you get from a mountains summit are just something else!
I thought my trekking days where over until Back Up asked if I was interested in the "Snowdon Push" I thought straight away YES! But people in wheelchair can't do that surely/ Back Up show and take people whom have sustained a spinal cord injury that ANYTHING is possible.
In January this year I was lucky enough to go onto the Back Up ski trip in Colorado! Just wow - people in wheelchairs can ski? Again they showed another activity that was possible.
so on the 22nd June 2019 Me and my amazing bunch of friends are going to race up Snowdon against other Teams! We all love the competitiveness!
we will have to re-design my wheelchair to a climbing chair! The fun in designing the chair the training just bring back excitement to take part in activities as a team. I need these activities in my life as that who I was and who I still can be!
We are all rugby related and play for The Rams RFC! We will be doing everything in our all to be the first team up the mountain and what a team I have to support and get my there!
wish us all luck!!
