Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Research is the only thing that can help us make sure no life is cut short by cancer. At Worldwide Cancer Research (WCR), there is no geographical bias, just most promising proposals are chosen. If they believe a project can make a difference in the fight against cancer then they will award a grant to make it happen.
It's crucial to remember that cancer is not one disease - it's more than 200. All different, unique diseases, which require different approaches for treatment.
The only way that scientists at WCR can carry out that research is through fundraising and donations. This is one way we can each make a difference and is why I've taken on the task of training for this gruelling marathon and raising funds for this cause!
I've never been much of a long distance runner, so this is a real challenge for me. I've covered the cost of my trip to Athens, so all your donations will go directly to Worldwide Cancer Research! All the support you can give will be greatly appreciated!
- £10 will enable a research scientist to grow cancer cells in a test tube. This will help further their understanding of how cancer cells function.
- £50 will cover the cost of analysing a sample cancer tissue. This will improve our scientists’ knowledge of how cancer develops.
- £100 will pay for a computer analysis on the structure of a new cancer drug. This will enable our scientists to move closer towards developing a potentially life-saving medication.
- £1000 will allow a top scientist to examine the make-up of a cancer gene. This is an essential part of helping our scientists understand how this disease spreads and kills – and how it can be beaten.
