Story
A small group of dads in early 2019 decided to get out on their bikes whilst their daughters were rehearsing for a dance show. Our sole intention at that time was to see how we got on and hopefully enjoy ourselves, if we improved our fitness then it was a bonus. We have been out in all weathers and still find ourselves planning our Sunday rides out, even though the girls have finished their show. We have all benefited from our time out, either getting fitter, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to explore the Northants countryside (although we are all a bit fed up with lifting bikes over stiles). In Spring 2019 details were shared about the Cycle 4 Cynthia campaign, something that Richard had suggested to the rest of the group. Initially the plan was for 25 miles, but Adrian's immediate response we needed to set ourselves a real challenge and the 50 mile route was agreed somewhat with a nervous laugh associated with that decision.
Cynthia Spencer Hospice has provided help and support to friends and relatives of those completing this ride. Richard also happens to be the Clinical Service Manager for Cynthia Spencer Hospice amongst his portfolio. Therefore, this is our opportunity to push ourselves to complete 50 miles, hopefully enjoying ourselves along the way, and maybe still speaking to each other at the end of the ride. It is also our opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause which will allow the Hospice to continue in its provision of caring and compassionate care not only for patients, but also their friends and relatives. We very much appreciate your support and donations as we embark on our venture and hopefully contribute a healthy sum to the Cycle 4 Cynthia 2019 campaign.
