Story
I'm helping to fundraise for the Anthony Nolan charity as part of the Marrow Challenge Championship taking place from the 5th to the 11th April! Marrow is the student-run branch of Anthony Nolan, a national charity that runs the UK stem cell register.
I'm not a keen runner, but I've set myself a challenge to complete 14 miles over the next week, in the hope that we can raise some money for the charity and get more volunteers involved.
Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Anthony Nolan works to match incredible people willing to donate their stem cells, to people with blood cancer who are in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant. Marrow now recruit one in four people who go on to donate stem cells, which means hundreds of lives are potentially saved by Marrow's incredible work.
It costs Anthony Nolan £40 to sign someone onto the register, so this is where your donations come in! Even small donations help contribute to more lives being saved. I would be very grateful if you would consider donating to this incredibly worthwhile cause by sponsoring my challenge, or, if you cannot donate, consider sharing this post.
Also, if you are between the ages of 16-30 and in good health and are considering joining the register, you can do so via www.anthonynolan.org/lancastermarrow by filling in a quick application form. Thank you!
