Story
Pupils at Habs take part in a weekly fun run. This coming Tuesday pupils in Meadows have turned it into a charity event to support BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. With many close links to families in India they felt it important to raise money.
Over the weekend, I came to learn that the COVID situation in India is horrific. For example, there aren’t enough beds and oxygen tanks in hospitals for people, so you would see people lying dead on the streets as nobody can treat them. Even to think about this makes me feel distraught and sick at the same time'.
The situation in India is dire and critical. Thousands are dying daily.
BAPS has already responded with a new 500-bed facility in Atladara, Vadodara, equipped with ICU facilities and life-saving oxygen as well as PPE for medical staff. This is in addition to the ongoing relief work in India since the pandemic began, with the distribution of hot meals, fresh vegetables, ration kits, N95 masks, and more.
We have now launched an international emergency campaign to provide further critical care and support to the needy as the devastating second wave in India intensifies.
