Story
The pandemic has changed many things about our daily lives but can you imagine getting through this without having access to clean water in your home? Wait… can you imagine what that’s like even without a global pandemic? That’s why we’ve decided to come together to support the work of Nuevas Esperanzas in Nicaragua. They work hard to provide basics that too often we take for granted, like water.
15 years generally isn't a cause for much fanfare in the places we call home (the US, UK and Australia) but in Latin America, it's when you pull out all the stops. Your quinceañera (15th birthday) is when you put on your glad rags, hire a DJ and find the biggest cake on the planet to consume amongst friends and family.
That’s why we’re also pulling out all the stops. Six of us - Dan, Sam, Rich, Jake, Ali and Hamish - are running 15 miles to mark the occasion while Andy (not one to mess with “short” distances) is running 50km! Not only that but, in a slightly crazy move, we are trying to coordinate across three continents so that we all run at the same time.
All three of us will be running on trails: Andy will be doing his ultra along the punishing north Devon and Cornish coast path; Sam, Rich, Jake, Ali and Hamish are running just outside of Sydney; and Dan is running up Mount Diablo in California to include 1061m of elevation gain (the same height as the volcano where families supported by NE live).
So throw us a penny or a dime and we’ll throw them all to Telica to help bring people there what they need to thrive.
Thanks for your support!
