Story

During the past few years, I have been lucky enough to take part in (and watch) many shows with some very talented individuals who have all been supporters of 'Reubens Retreat' charity. Over those years, I have slowly started to understand the story behind the charities inception and the incredible work that has taken place since Reuben passed away in August 2012. The charities goal is this -
"Our primary goal is to open a retreat in the North West of England where families who have children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses can take respite breaks and taketime to relax, recharge, remember and rebuild"
On Wednesday the 23rd of April 2014 Reuben’s Retreat made the property purchase - however a further £2m needs to be raised over the next 3 years in order for the retreat to be fully completed.
When I was challenged by my good friend (Richard Rudman) to take on a half marathon, there was only one charity that came to mind that I wanted to do it for. I have seen people that I am lucky to call friends doing fundraising events at Theatres, running 10,000 metres, giving out wristbands.. It felt great to know that I could do something to help too. In addition, the day of the half marathon (Sunday 23rd August) falls exactly three years after the charity was launched. It will be a special day, I hope that by completing the half marathon and raising lots of money.. I can make it a little more special!
I have never completed anything further than 10,000 metres before and the last time that I did that.. I was 24. To demonstrate how long ago that was, I actually had hair... and anyone who knows me will confirm that it has been a long time since I could say that! (apart from embarrassing wigs in shows)
My official training for this starts next week, it is going to be tough but I know that I can do it. Any support you can give towards this great cause would be really appreciated.
