British Blind Sport (BBS) does fantastic work enabling blind and partially sighted people to have the same opportunities as sighted people to access and enjoy sport and recreational activities in the UK.
My wonderful wife and I have three young daughters and we enjoy introducing them to new sports and nurturing their enthusiasm for physical activity . As parents of fully sighted children we are priviledged to have easy access to suitable sporting events, clubs and learning opportunities.
I have chosen to raise money for British Blind Sport by running the London Marathon 2018 to improve the sporting opportunities for blind and partially sighted people in the UK. I am extremely proud to support a charity that strives to provide the same freedom to participate, train and excel in sports as that enjoyed by the sighted community.
I will be raising money and training for the marathon through a series of events.
Firstly, I will be running several organised races with my two eldest girls (in our double running buggy – a great chance for some resistance training!). These races include;
- Autumn Shakespeare Long Marston 10K 11/11
- Santa Dash 16/12
...and more to come in early 2018 as my training programme builds in intensity in preparation for the London Marathon.
Secondly, I will be raising funds and, importantly, awareness of BBS’s work through a series of organised events, including a Blind Sports Championship Tournament (table tennis, pool, air hockey), where all participants wear eye patches and vision impairing goggles to simulate visual impairment/blindness and begin to understand firsthand the trials and difficulties that so many of our society face.
All of the monies you donate will go directly to BBS and allow them to carry on with their vital work
Thanks in advance for your support
