Story
I'm not too sure if it's the craziness of last year, or if I genuinely think this is a good idea...but I have decided to run the 2022 London Marathon. I will be fundraising for MQ, the mental health research charity.
I have chosen to fundraise for MQ because their values are something I feel truly passionate about. No matter how grueling the training is, and no matter how difficult those 26.2 miles are, it is absolutely nothing compared to what people with mental illness have to suffer with. Knowing that I have people close to me who have to suffer with this everyday, is enough to pull me through endless marathons. Mental health conditions are still seriously looked over. We all need to do everything we can to help raise awareness, improve the treatment options and ultimately prevent the illnesses from occurring.
Mental health conditions can be silent killers, anyone close to you could be suffering. Any donation, no matter how small, will seriously help contribute to this vitally important research.
Here is a little bit about this amazing organisation:
We're MQ, the mental health research charity. We transform lives through research, helping to create a future where mental illnesses are understood, effectively treated and one day prevented. Right now, one in four people in the UK are living with a mental health condition. Our scientists investigate a huge range of issues: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and more. We’re bringing together everything from cutting-edge neuroscience to social studies to find the answers we need. Better is possible.
