Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Between the 4th and 6th June 2020 I will be cycling 267km from the London Olympic Stadium to Bruges, Belgium. I will be doing this with my Dad and friend David Eccles. David was diagnosed with Parkinson's over 10 years ago and has experienced worsening symptoms throughout this period. After undergoing deep brain surgery in 2018 to drastically improve his condition, David will also be doing this cycle... Amazing!
On a personal note, my grandmother, Jane Catlin, battled with corticobasal degeneration, before passing away in 2018. This disorder is very similar to Parkinson's, so I'll be doing this ride in her memory.
Please donate anything you can to fund the development of these treatments and find a permanent cure!
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350.
There is currently no cure for Parkinson's. Vital discoveries in the last 50 years have improved treatment and understanding of the disease. Parkinson's UK believes the science is ready to develop the new treatments and cure that people with Parkinson's so desperately need. Funding is crucial to furthering these developments.
