Story
On 10th April 2016 I will be running the Greater Manchester Marathon to raise money for Ravenscliffe@ Spring Hall.
I'm a teacher at Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College. We are Calderdale's only secondary special school, providing education for 147 students aged 11 - 19 years. The school caters for pupils with a wide range of special educational needs, including moderate, severe and complex learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, sensory impairment, and physical disabilities. The most recent inspection report by Ofsted describes Ravenscliffe as an "Outstanding School where the exceptional quality of teaching ensures that students’ progress extremely well throughout their time at the School" however we are severely oversubscribed at more than double our capacity!
The solution is Ravenscliffe@SpringHall; a purpose built, fully accessible Post-16 learning centre and out of hours community centre. The centre will provide exciting and innovative learning opportunities for up to 70 young people aged 16-19, whilst relieving the capacity issues at the main school building and thus affording better provision for younger students. Numerous fundraising activities over the past few years have helped the school raise enough funds for the new building and they now need a final £400,000 to complete and equip the new centre.
Any donations welcome!
