Story

With just under 7 weeks to go until the London Marathon, Brain Research UK offered me a last minute place through my friend Matt. As someone who has always talked in the abstract about running a marathon at some point in the future, this seemed like a great opportunity so I said yes.

I quickly discovered that 16 weeks is the usual training period for a marathon, so I have my work cut out to get ready for the big day on 2nd October in less than half that time! This will also be twice as far as I've ever run before. Any donations you can make will be a massive motivation and help pile on the pressure to keep going when the Sunday long runs get scary.

I'm supporting Brain Research UK, which does great work to advance our understanding of brain diseases. They have three current research priorities: brain tumours, brain and spinal cord injuries, and headaches and facial pain. The charity also funds projects in other neurological areas, such as epilepsy and dementia.

I've linked my Strava account to this page for anyone interested in tracking my progress - donations of kudos also gratefully accepted ;)
