Story
My significantly older sister Alice is going to be 40 on 1st April this year and said she wanted to run a marathon before reaching that landmark. We are going to run the Barcelona race together on 11th March (three weeks ahead of target) and want to use the opportunity to fundraise for two charities that are important to us.
The Chilterns MS Therapy Centre is a source of enormous support to our dad who has lived with MS for over half of his life. The physio, care and advice he receives from the staff there is life-enhancing, for Dad and for Mum, as Dad's carer. They support 330 patients a week and never turn anyone away - but this special and valuable resource is always in need of funds. We would love to be able to to show thanks and support through our running.
The second charity is Brighter Futures Zambia. This inspirational charity was set up by our close friends to support a community they had got to know through VSO 10 years ago. Their organisation is run entirely by volunteers ensuring all of the money goes directly to the education and welfare of vulnerable children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Monze, Zambia. From nothing they have built this charity, achieving incredible feats from very little - bringing children into secondary education, establishing a counseling service/healthy meals scheme and currently they are building a pre-school. They also do something called the Good Goat Campaign.
We'd love to be able to raise money equally for these two charities so, if possible, please donate to whichever page has a lower total. This is the MS centre page and Alice has set up the Brighter Futures Zambia page here.
Thank you!
