We are planning a mammoth challenge with the intention of raising money and awareness of stem cell donation in the UK. We are hoping to raise money, educate and also encourage people to sign up to become stem cell and bone marrow donors, if they are able to.  

Our excellent friend, and fellow Crossfitter, Simon was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in April this year. He has been through many gruelling rounds of chemotherapy, endured isolation in hospital, unable to see his friends or family and has powered through it like the hero we know he is.  

Simon is the most upbeat, optimistic and enthusiastic friend, husband to Nia and loving Dad, he has four wonderful daughters. We floated the idea with Simon of raising some money for him and his family to ease the burden of having no income and to send the family on a well deserved holiday once Si was feeling up to it. Simon was having none of it and immediately said he would prefer we put our efforts into supporting the Anthony Nolan Trust. So that's what we are going to do.

Simon is in the middle of some really tough treatment. The aim is to prepare him for his stem cell transplant that will save his life and mean that, with time, he can start living again. Please help us to support our friend, by supporting this cause. 

Our fundraising challenge takes two parts. The first is a 24 hour Team Endurance challenge at Shrewsbury Town Football club in December. Which team can ski the furthest on a ski machine in 24hrs? You can only ski when your team's beer barrel is held off the ground.

The second is an International Pairs Workout challenge.

There are 2000 people in need of a transplant in the UK every year and only 3% of the population are registered as stem cell donors. One person receives a diagnosis of blood cancer every 14 minutes.  To be a donor through Anthony Nolan Trust you must be aged between 16 and 30, be in good health and weigh over 50kg.
